Monday, April 15

San Diego International Airport Tour

Cost: $50 (Limited to the first 25 participants to register)

Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of one of the world’s most technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable airports. This two-hour guided tour will include the highly acclaimed Terminal 2, heralded as the first ever LEED Platinum airport terminal. We’ll also visit the new Terminal 2 parking lot, which boasts a variety of smart features, including a 100,000 gallon stormwater capture tank used in the airport’s central utility plant. We’ll also explore the Innovation Lab, an incubator for businesses working to make the airport more efficient, user-friendly and sustainable.

San Diego Port Harbor Tour

Join this one-hour tour of the San Diego shoreline focusing on the San Diego Port’s leading-edge planning and technologies. Guided by experts from the Port of San Diego, explore the economic, environmental, and digital innovations around San Diego’s coastline. Maximum of 7 attendees.

San Diego Smart City Walking Tour

Join this one-hour guided neighborhood walk led by the East Village Association to learn how city agencies, utilities, regional planning organizations and private companies are implementing smart city principals on the ground. Guides will address the neighborhood’s rapid population growth, the bike and mobility plans underway, and the green street development. Our tour will end at a local brewery for participants to enjoy local brews and/or lunch on your own.

Drones as First Responders in Chula Vista
1:30-3:30 pm

Cost: $50 (Limited to the first 25 attendees to register)

Don’t miss this behind-the-scenes look at the Chula Vista Police Department’s deployment of its pilot “Drone as a First Responder” (DFR) program,  a ground-breaking project with the San Diego Integrated Pilot Program (IPP) and the Federal Aviation Administration. Visit the Police Department’s drone control center and see first-hand how drones are providing critical real-time data for first responders.

Padres Game at Petco Park
Meet at 6:30 PM (First Pitch is at 7:10)

Cost: $30

Join the Smart Cities Council for a night at the ballpark! Petco Park is a 10 minute walk from the Marriott Marquis. We’ll meet up and walk over together to enjoy a night of baseball under the stars as the San Diego Padres take on the Colorado Rockies.

Wednesday, April 17

Petco Park Behind the Scenes Tour
4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Cost: $20 (Limited to the first 25 attendees to register)

Join this behind-the-scenes tour of PetcoPark, home of the San Diego Padres. Learn first-hand about the inner workings of the baseball stadium, including the 336, 520 watt solar installation and the complex communications and mechanical systems that make the park unique. Our tour will end with a visit to a local brewery to celebrate the end of a great week with fellow Smart Cities Week attendees.
